Day 4

Today we went to the Gala Dinner of the Conference. 250 BC lawyers in a banquet hall in Vegas. And Elvis dropped by to sing. Confirmation that Liam and Elvis are definately not one and the same.

Here is the view from our room looking out over the Strip and the Bellagio Fountains, quite spectacular.

Here I am just before the big event. We also happened to end up at a show called Peep Show at Planet Hollywood, with Holly Madison. Steamy. Oh and Liam won big on the craps table tonight! Came back with a $500 chip.

Day 3

Have been enjoying the hotel today. Here is view from our room towards Aria and the City Center complex. Holstein's for lunch, dinner at a place called Jaleo, rated one of the best in Vegas, Spanish tapas.

Here I am in one of the bedrooms in our suite. Spent part of the day at the Sahra Spa and Hammam. Beautiful Turkish design with steam, cold mist and plunge pools. They have a "TechnoGym" with tennis courts. Checked out some of the shops in the hotel, Droog, design store from Amsterdam, and Phaidon, famous art and design book publisher.

Day 2

Weather today clear and sunny and hot but I've opted, after a quick visit to the pool, to check out the mall, the new City Center complex at Mandarin Oriental and Aria. This is a place to gawk but not buy. And so I went further down the Strip to Barneys in Shoppes at the Palazzo, for Aesop products. And then further still to Fashion Show Mall, one of the largest enclosed malls in the world.
We've relocated to the Cosmopolitan Hotel today (think big design), right next to the Bellagio Fountains. The hotel bars are something else, The Chandalier and Vespers (James Bond martinis).

Day 1

Vegas is a mere 2.5 hour flight from Vancouver and we've made our way to the Luxor, the only hotel on the planet that can be seen from space. After a quick pit stop, we made a bee-line to New York New York (the hotel not the city) and Il Fornaio for a bite. Yum! What's not to like about Northern Italian dishes, big reds and the clang, clang of slot machines.
